Digital Data and Technology- The Future of Healthcare

Whilst the NHS laid out plans to go paperless by 2020, wider services such as home care have been slower to catch up with the conversation. Whilst championing the transition to digital, a lack of clear guidance from the CQC has led to unsurety in the home care sector, with the correct use of digital records a hot topic at this years Tech for Care conference where reports CQC inspectors are still asking for paper records were discussed. So where do home care providers stand and what is the official guidance? At Tech for Care 2019 Katie Barton, CQC’s Senior Designer of Strategy and Intelligence clarified “[inspectors] shouldn’t be saying to you ‘I only want paper records’. Categorically they should not be saying that and they should not be insisting on paper versions of the records that you have if you are digital.”. Getting the Most Out of Your Care Software

Electronic Call Monitoring care software is quickly becoming a basic requirement for home care providers, with many providers having already made the switch away from extensive paperwork. Whilst almost guaranteed to save you time and money, software can still be expensive, so it’s important to ensure you’re getting the most out of it. Here are our top features to look for to help take your business to the next level. Accounting Choose a software that offers built in invoicing and payroll. Supporting Carers and Improving Staff Retention in the Care Industry

In an ideal world we would retain 100% of our staff and have minimal recruitment and training costs, however Social Care is facing an industry wide struggle with retention, with Skills for Care reporting a 30.7% turnover rate in 2018. Social care is a demanding job and it is important your staff are supported to carry out their roles successfully. Research has discovered that company culture, working environment and pay are the top 3 factors in staff satisfaction. Here are our top tips to support your carers and improve retention… 1.    360 Feedback It is vital to offer your staff the opportunity to provide open and honest feedback anonymously. 360 feedback is a model that allows staff to anonymously report any issues with their roles, the way they work and ways they feel management could support them better in their roles. This feedback is then reviewed regularly to assess progress in any highlighted areas, and is a great way to improve communicatio

7 Cost Effective Ways to Improve Care Quality

Social Care is just one of the sectors faced with increasingly difficult conditions in our current socio-economic climate, easily finding themselves overstretched due to lack of available funding and rising demand. We have put together our Top 7 ways to improve care quality without breaking the bank.   1. Review your processes to free up time. The most valuable resource in good care delivery is time. In an ideal world we would be able to take the time to ensure our clients physical and emotional needs are met to the fullest extent, however, the burden of extensive, while necessary, paperwork and potentially overstretched staff can be a barrier to this goal. Saving time on administration can allow staff to dedicate more time directly to their clients. Simplifying processes and banishing as much paperwork as possible is a direct route to freeing up valuable time. Using a good Electronic Call Monitoring system can save time in a multitude of

Top Tips to Help You Choose a Care Provider

Making the decision to arrange care for yourself or a family member can be a daunting experience. Choosing the right care provider is the most important decision for you to make and OnePlan have put together their top tips to help you decide. Care Plan software – Why You Need NFC Technology.

What is NFC Technology? NFC, or Near Field Communication Technology, is a form of wireless data transfer that allows two electronic devices to establish communication when they are within around 4cm of each other. Many smart phones have built in NFC technology and it is also available in the form of handy portable chips. When two devices are brought together the ‘active’ device can collect information from the transmitting device. We use this technology in our care plan software. How do we use it? Oneplans Care Plan Software utilises NFC Technology in their call tracking and monitoring. Carers carry an NFC enabled handset whilst clients have a chip in their residence. Carers simply swipe their handset to ‘clock in’ to a call and the handset will register the call start time and location. They can then swipe their handset again to ‘clock out’. Why is this better than clocking into a care plan software system manually? Our clients report one of the primary

How the right care plan software can improve your CQC rating.

This case study details the progression of a domiciliary care provider placed on special measures in 2016 following 3 inadequate inspections, to a ‘good’ rating in 2018, following the introduction of OnePlan software to help improve their monitoring, reporting and overall care quality. The CQC utilises 5 criteria to assess care providers. Here are some of the areas our care provider improved on after implementing OnePlan ECM system. Is the service safe? Inspectors comments before and after. BEFORE ‘At the previous inspection we found that the service was in breach relating to safe care and treatment and in particular, the management of risk, safe management of medicines and the management of incidents and accidents.’ AFTER- ‘since the last inspection the provider had implemented an electronic system that was able to store records. We found that risk assessments had been significantly improved Other records were sufficiently detailed and showed evidence o

OnePlans Guide to CQC Inspections

If you are a new provider awaiting your first inspection, or haven’t had one in your current role it can be difficult to know what to expect! Here’s our short overview to help you prepare. What is the CQC? The CQC, or Care Quality Commission, is an independent regulatory body for all health and  care services. You can read about them at: https://www.cqc.org.uk/about-us/our-purpose-role/who-we-are The CQC registers, monitors, inspects and rates care services and takes action where necessary to protect those who use services. The CQC regulates and inspects different services in different ways however it always involves: -      Registering care providers. -      Using data, evidence and information. -      Using feedback -      Inspections by experts -      Publishing information and ratings to help care

Electronic Call Monitoring Software- Why You Need It

Between the NHS goal of going paperless by 2020, GDPR and the CQCs increasingly complex recommendations and inspection criteria, the domiciliary care management software industry is growing just as fast as the demand for care, with numerous homecare monitoring systems currently available on the market. But what is it and why is it important for care providers to have it? What is Domiciliary Care Software? Electronic Call Monitoring Software or ECM Software is a system that allows the management and monitoring of an organization's information, allowing users to capture, manage, store, preserve, and deliver information and documents. Within the care industry, this translates to benefits such as carers having secure, electronic access to important information such as rotas, care plans and MARcharts and administrators or managers being able to view and monitor this information in real time. Traditionally monitoring and auditing care visits has been a time-consuming process.
